Tips on Photography for an Artful Pet Portrait
  • When taking a photograph of your pet you want to move as close to them as you can to achieve as much clear and focused detail through the viewfinder as possible. Remember the detail and quality you supply in the photograph will directly affect the outcome of your portrait.

  • Position yourself at the same eye level with your pet. In doing so you assure a realistic looking perspective for your portrait.

  • Take alot of photographs. Different features and elements can be combined from different photographs. Also, if you are planning to have a group portrait done, several photographs are necessary for each individual pet. In addition, please supply a photograph of these individuals in a group so that the artist can make sure each pet is in proportion to the other.

  • When choosing which photographs to submit be sure and indicate which one best represents the true coloring of your pet as well as which one best captures the mood you're looking for in the portrait. Basically you want to mark your favorites.
